BUILDING FIRE AT THE 191 CONDOS
Monday, February
2nd, 2009
At 11:20 hours today, Station 22
was alerted to assist Union Fire Assn. at a fire alarm
activation at an area high rise building. First arriving units
found a smoke condition in the building and called for
additional units to assist with evacuation. A small fire was
confined to the lobby area of the 10 story high rise. Units
operated on the scene for approximately 1 hour.

FATAL
ACCIDENT INVOLVING MOTORCYCLE

8th, 2009
Early this afternoon units
were dispatched to City Avenue near Orchard Road for a vehicle
accident with a report of entrapment. Fire department personnel
found a motorcyclist wedged underneath of a pick-up truck as a
result of the collision. The victim was reported DOA by EMS and
Rescue 22 stood by on the scene to assist the County Coroner’s
Office. Total time in service was approximately 90 minutes.

FIRE IN MERION

A fire involving live high
voltage electrical wires keep firefighters busy this evening.
The initial call of a brush fire on Valley Road slowly
escalated into a well involved structure fire while firefighters
stood-by awaiting the arrival of electric company linemen. The
live electric wires involved presented a severe shock hazard to
the firefighters that would normally make quick work of a brush
fire. Multiple companies operated on the scene for approximately
3 hours.

FRIDAY
THE 13th UNLUCKY FOR MOTORIST

13th, 2009
Late this morning a
motorist traveling on Old Gulph Road near Merion Square Road
was trapped when a tree fell across the roadway and her car.
The tree limb bought with it energized power lines requiring the
response of PECo and Lower Merion fire rescue units. Personnel
from Belmont Hills, Penn Wynne and Gladwyne fire companies were
on scene for approximately 90 minutes awaiting the arrival of
the electric company linemen. After assuring that the wires were
de-energized, the motorist was helped from her car.
